About Us

Bonney's Tutorials Pty Ltd Bio

For five years, Bonney's Tutorials has provided a safe alternative approach for high school age students who struggle to "fit" into the regular mainstream school environment for a variety of reasons. Bonney's Tutorials is housed within the historic "Kingswood" homestead in a peaceful rural setting on the outskirts of Warwick, delivering distance education from Groves Christian College using a self paced approach. The students find their own "space" in the homestead and are guided in their learning pathways by Director Owen Bonney. Mr Bonney has had a total of 35 years teaching experience with Education Queensland.

Volunteers play a very important role, assisting in a variety of ways. They help supervise studies and provide practical "hands on" and fitness opportunities. "Mentoring is very important to these students" claims Mr Bonney "and the variety of skills and dedication shown by our volunteers is deeply appreciated". Volunteers are coordinated by Mrs Bette Bonney who brings qualified practice to that role from wide experience in the community.

Bonneys Tutorials currently shares the Kingswood site with Warwick Christian College (primary). From 2013 when the College moves to Slade Campus (extending to year 8), Bonney's Tutorials will transition to an extension service of the College. The resulting expansion of the "Kingswood campus" will see greater opportunities for disengaged students. It is envisaged the Campus will grow towards a "hands on" apapproach highlighting life and core employability skills, guided by the Queensland syllabus.
